2023 Korea-EU CSO Network Human Rights Conference to emphasize diversity, practice inclusivity

The Korea-European Union CSO Network (KEN) is set to host the 2023 Korea-EU CSO Network Human Rights Conference in collaboration with the EU delegation of the European Union to Korea, Thursday, in Seoul.

With the overarching theme of "Live Diversity: Practice Inclusivity," this year's conference seeks to foster vital dialogues and formulate recommendations that promote diversity and inclusion across all segments of society.

The event will convene representatives from diverse civil society groups, the private sector, academia, media and social activists from Europe and Korea. Together, they will exchange insights on promoting respect for diversity through integrated policies and collaborative actions, emphasizing its significance for the socio-economic development of both regions.

The conference will delve into the intricacies of multiple discrimination within contemporary democracies, addressing present challenges and envisioning a collaborative path forward. Influential figures and thought leaders will guide discussions to deepen understanding and propose actionable solutions in key areas such as education, the labor market, family and social rights.

EU Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Maria Castillo Fernandez extends a warm invitation to participants for a collective commitment to human rights. The opening ceremony will feature keynote speeches by the ambassador and human rights activists.

The conference will consist of three sessions designed to stimulate insightful dialogue and action.

Session one will focus on identifying intersectionality and the challenges of multiple discriminations, an introductory session on the concepts of intersectionality and multiple discriminations, and exploring their significance in defining human rights policies.

Session two will highlight diversity and inclusion in education and the workplace, highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusion for enhancing academic performance, creativity and economic productivity.

The third session will delve into embracing diverse families, which will explore the societal benefits of embracing non-traditional forms of families and the necessity for social dialogue.
