The Korea Times signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nicaraguan media Canal 6 and El 19 Digital to promote content exchange.
Presided over by Nicaraguan Ambassador to Korea Rodrigo Coronel Kinloch, an MOU signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of The Korea Times in central Seoul, Friday, with the Nicaraguan counterparts participating via Zoom.
Ambassador Coronel congratulated the agreement, hoping that The Korea Times would find more things in common with its Nicaraguan partners.
"They say the world is getting smaller thanks to connectivity, but I beg to disagree, considering that the peoples of Korea and Nicaragua don't know much about each other," The Korea Times President-Publisher Oh Young-jin said.
"I hope our agreement will pave the way for a greater understanding of each other, in the process of making the world truly smaller and the people of the two countries closer."

Canal 6 is a public television channel covering a wide range of cultural, educational and social content ― it is the most watched TV network in Nicaragua.
"We are the television channel in Nicaragua with the greatest cultural promotion and national identity. We are facilitators of a broad, participatory and constantly evolving communication according to these new times; taking into account technological development and cooperation with other initiatives that allow us greater scientific, cultural and educational development," said Aaron Peralta, director general of Canal 6.
Martha Espinoza Urbina, director of Nicaragua's El 19 Digital newspaper, welcomed the agreement which will allow a new level of direct communication to share work, culture and traditions.
"Signing this memorandum of understanding will strengthen the historical bonds of brotherhood between our countries and it will be a pleasure to work together. We appreciate the opportunity of this mutual agreement and we hope to collaborate in the best way," Urbina said.
