President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey will visit South Korea next week on a state visit that will include a bilateral summit with his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in, Seoul's presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said Wednesday.
Erdogan will arrive here next Wednesday, becoming the first Turkish leader to visit Seoul since the countries upgraded their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership in 2012.
"At the upcoming summit, President Moon and President Erdogan will review the development of the countries' strategic partnership and hold discussions on ways to further increase their mutual cooperation in trade and other areas," Ko Min-jung, a vice spokeswoman for Cheong Wa Dae, told a press briefing.
Moon will also host a state dinner for the visiting Turkish leader, she added.
The countries established diplomatic ties in 1957. (Yonhap)
