Germany discusses environment, conflict and cooperation
By Rachel Lee
German Ambassador to Korea Stephan Auer will launch an exhibition dedicated to the environment at the Green Climate Fund headquarters in Incheon today. It runs until Nov. 20.
According to the embassy, the exhibition, “Environment, Conflict and Cooperation,” was conceived and realized by adelphi as a touring exhibition, on the initiative of the German Federal Foreign Office. Regionally specific elements have been developed in collaboration with Fundacion Futuro Latinoamericano (FFLA), the University of the South Pacific (USP), the Energy Research Institute (TERI), Vitae Civilis, OneWorld and the Chinese Society for Sustainable Development (CSSD).
The project, based on an original exhibition by adelphi and weltformat on “Environment, Conflict and Cooperation,” seeks to engage in dialogue with governments and civil society around the globe on the risks and opportunities of environmental change. It explains the security implications of these changes for the particular regions in which it is displayed.
The exhibition presents topics including climate change, energy, water security and conflict resources. It covers four focus regions: Brazil, China, India and southern Africa.
Deputy Head of Mission Weert Borner will give a special lecture on the topic today.
