Food experts from Korea and Brunei will gather in Bandar Seri Begawan to discuss ways to boost cooperation in the food sector.
The ASEAN-Korea Centre will organize the “Trade Facilitation Workshop for Brunei Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises” on July 19. The aim is to enhance competitiveness of Bruneian food companies by introducing smart technologies and to further strengthen business partnerships between Brunei and Korea.
Brunei’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT), the Energy and Industry Department of the Prime Minister’s Office (EIDPMO) and the Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) organized the event.
“Trade and commercial ties between Brunei and Korea have become increasingly close over the last decade,” ASEAN-Korea Centre Secretary General Kim Young-sun said.
“However, business cooperation in the food industry has remained relatively unexplored, offering great opportunities for the two countries to seek closer business partnerships.”
Representatives from CJ and Pulmuone will give presentations on topics that include an “Overview of the Food Industry in Korea: Sourcing Trends and Procedures of Seafood Products,” “Purchasing Trends and Import Procedures of Processed Food Products” and “Introducing Smart Technology in Agribusinesses,” the organization said.
About 100 business representatives from local companies are expected to attend.
Starting this year, the ASEAN-Korea Centre has developed its capacity-building program, formerly the Product Development Workshop, into the Trade Facilitation Workshop that covers wider areas important for the acceleration of trade, such as the ASEAN-Korea free trade agreement.
The ASEAN-Korea Centre is an intergovernmental organization established in 2009 to promote exchanges among Korea and the 10 ASEAN member states.
