President-elect Park Geun-hye named her long-time foreign policy brain Yun Byung-se as foreign minister of the incoming government Wednesday in an earlier than expected
Nomination seen as reflecting the urgency of forming the security line-up following North Korea's nuclear test.
Park also named former Army general Kim Byung-kwan, who served as deputy commander of the South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command, as her defense minister in a series of nominations that also included four other Cabinet posts, deputy transition team chief Chin Young said.
Seo Nam-soo, a former education technocrat, was named as education minister; former senior prosecutor Hwang Kyo-ahn as justice minister; ruling party lawmaker Yoo Jeong-bok as home affairs minister; and former vice cultural minister Yoo Jin-ryong as culture minister, Chin said.
