The New Zealand Embassy in Seoul released the April-June issue of “KiaOra Korea,” a bimonthly magazine, this week, the second issue the embassy has published.

The recent edition covered major bilateral issues, including Defense Minister Wayne Mapp’s visit to Korea from April 23 to 26. During the visit, Mapp held talks with his counterpart Kim Kwan-jin to discuss issues of mutual interest.

At the talks, the front page article said the New Zealand defense minister stressed his country’s security priorities and its commitment for international peace.

He travelled to the joint security area near the military demarcation line. Mapp, who also serves as minister of research, science and technology, also held talks with his counterpart in technology during the visit.

The April-June issue also featured the sixth anniversary of the battle of Kapyeong. Mapp led the New Zealand delegation at commemoration ceremonies in the city on April 24. Fourteen Kiwi veterans with their family members attended the ceremonies.

The April-June magazine also covered a story on an event to thank Hong Jin-wook, a South Korean diplomat who previously served as counselor at the Korean Embassy in New Zealand, for his support of Kiwi veterans. Hong is now working at the presidential office as an assistant secretary.
