Outgoing EU Ambassador to Korea Brian McDonald, left, joins Czech Ambassador Jaroslav Olsa, Jr. after receiving a medal presented by the Czech government honoring his contribution to enhancing Czech Republic-EU-Korea ties during his four-year post in Seoul. Both were behind the staging of the first EU-Korea summit, which took place in May 2009 during the Czech presidency of the EU. At that time the EU President Jose Manuel Barroso and Czech President Vaclav Klaus held a summit with President Lee Myung-bak in Seoul.

Hanoi's Millennium birthday:

Vietnamese Ambassador Tran Trong Toan congratulates Hanoi, Vietnam in celebration of their 1000th anniversary in October during the "Korea-Vietnam Night" at the National Assembly, last Wednesday. In 1010, Ly Thai To, the king of the Ly Dynasty designated Hanoi the capital city.

Kathak dance

The Embassy of India and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations bring internationally-renowned Kathak dance maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj and his group Ritu Samhara.

The 22-member dance group already performed at the Jeonju Sori Festival last weekend, and will perform at the Nami Island International Book Festival between October 5 and 8, the National Museum, Seoul on Oct. 9 and at the Great Baekje World Festival between Oct. 11 and 13.
