Exhibition on Italian films

The Italian Cultural Institute; Korean Film Archive (KOFA); and ArT-Za, an Italia's film promotion institute, will present the exhibition "Paper Dreams" between Feb. 26 and March 26 at the KOFA in Sangam-dong, Seoul.

Movie posters from the mid-1930s to 1990s and various illustrations will tell the history of Italian movies, Italian society and the evolution of graphic language. Eight Italian classic movies will also be screened during the exhibition: "Siuscia" by Vittorio De Sica, "Viaggio in Italia" by Roberto Rossellini, "Rocco ei Suoi Fratelli" by Luchino Visconti, "Edipo Re" by Pier Paolo Pasolini, "Il Conformista" by Bernardo Bertolucci, "Indentificazione di una Donna" by Michelangelo Antonioni, "Cinema Paradiso" by Giuseppe Tornatore and "Il te' nel Deserto" by Bernardo Bertolucci .

Bangladesh film screening

A Bangla film titled "Monpura" will be screened at the Korea Foundation Cultural Center at 7 pm on Wednesday.

The film depicts a life of Shonai, a feudal lord's servant in south-western part of Bangladesh.

He flees home to avoid an arrest for a murder charge, a malicious attempt by his master to cover up his retarded son's wrongdoing.

In escape t an island called Monpura, he falls in love with Pori, yet their life gets complicated again as his former master runs after him.

Completing a course on Korea:

Hahn Young-hee, ninth from left in the front row, Korea Foundation's executive vice president, joins participants of the Korean Language and Culture Program for Diplomats, a cultural promotion program for foreign diplomats in Korea offered by the foundation, during a graduation ceremony at Seoul National University on Feb. 12. The one-year program has certified 26 diplomats in its first year. The program for 2010 will begin in March.
