Both Korean and foreign dignitaries enjoyed a two-day musical festival hosted by the Korea Foundation Cultural Center on the occasion of its third anniversary.
The first day witnessed a young violinist whose enthusiasm saw him break strings on his bow in the middle of the performance.
Kwun Hyuk-joo was playing an encore, ``Le Rondo de Rufins'' by Italian composer Antonio Bazzini, with pianist Kim Jeong-won, when strings from his bow tore loose, though the young player didn't seemed to care.
Continuous applause greeted the two at the end of the performance.
The reaction from the audience was a true acclamation ― among the assembled diplomats, ``It was excellent,'' was repeatedly heard.
``It's one of the greatest concerts that the foundation has offered for its anniversary,'' an ambassador added.
The second day was more casual and culturally diverse as the show presented a combination of Jazz and Greek music. A group led by Vassilis Xiros, a diplomat from Greece, performed the Greek tunes.
Since it its foundation, the center has been a leading promoter of cultural awareness and exchange. It has also provided great support to foreign missions in Korea for cultural presentations.
But this year appears to be the last celebration under the name ``The Korea Foundation Cultural Center'' as it will seek a new name for itself.
