The wife of the Qatari ambassador and husband of the New Zealand ambassador gave vocal performances to the audience gathered at the Korea Foundation Cultural Center in Seoul.
Naomi Al-Madhadi, wife of the Qatari ambassador and Tim Strong, husband of the New Zealand ambassador, were invited to perform at the Gallery Concert-Three-Day Musical Journey in celebration of the second anniversary of the Korea Foundation.
They have become quite familiar faces on the musical scene. Yet when they were introduced as spouses of ambassadors, with the ambassadors called to stand, the audience applauded in surprise.
Their time here in Korea _ both have been here for about two years _ gave them the chance to make their names known as musicians, and they said they appreciated the opportunity.
Both played Korean tunes. Madhadi sang a solo improvision of ``Chugang-I,"a Korean folk song from the western part of the country, and Strong sang ``Chou," made famous by a Korean singer Patti Kim.
