'Great Expectation' musicians strike chord with viewers From top, families of Yoon Bo-mi, San E and Kim Tae-won / Courtesy of MBCNew TV reality program “Great Expectation” has become a hit with its emotional dramatization of three musicians realizing the importance of their families and appreciating their daily hardships.The MBC show on Monday portrayed singer Yoon Bo-mi from idol girl band Apink, rapper San E and guitarist Kim Tae-won from rock band Boohwal spending time with their families, whom the celebrities have neglected because of their busy schedules.Yoon ran a supermarket for a day to help her mother who has been operating the store. San E accompanied his father who works as cleaner in the U.S. Kim got closer to his mentally challenged son by being on a stage with him during a performance.A media report said the program “successfully drew tears and sympathy from TV viewers,” and, because of the positive reviews, will likely continue on MBC, although it was originally planned just to air during the Chuseok holiday season. Former announcer praised over one-man TV show Jun Hyun-mooNews announcer-turned-TV show host Jun Hyun-moo proved himself a masterful entertainer in a new program on Monday, in which he took multiple roles.Funnyman Jun, 37, headed the one-man show -- “The Jun Hyun-moo Show” -- on KBS2, where he hosted news and talk segments, posed as a field reporter to interview elementary students and invited his friends in an impromptu fashion to Yeouido Park in Seoul to host a quiz show.The show aired for 80 minutes. Lee Min-ho named goodwill ambassador for 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games /Yonhap South Korean actor Lee Min-ho was named Friday as a goodwill ambassador for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.Lee is the first actor to take on the role for the first Winter Games in South Korea.The local organizing committee said it appointed the 28-year-old hallyu star with three future Olympic Games to be held in Asia. Ko So-young cancels ad contract over money-lender outcry /Korea Times fileActress Ko So-young, 42, has canceled a contract for a TV commercial for a Japanese company that has a money-lending business.Ko was criticized for shooting the commercial for Japanese company “J Trust Group,” which has several subsidiaries that lend money with interest as high as 29.2 percent.The actress has made a few commercials since she married actor Jang Dong-gun in 2010.Ko said the company had agreed to cancel the contract and she was sorry to have worried fans. Mystery drama 'Achiara' to be web cartoon New TV mystery drama “The Village: Achiara’s Secret” will made into a web cartoon before its premier on Oct. 7 on SBS.So far, famous web cartoons such as “The Girl Who Sees Smells” and “Hyde, Jekyll, Me” have been made into dramas, but it is the first time a drama has been made into a web cartoon.Actress Moon Geun-young stars in the new drama with K-pop idol star BTB’s Yook Sung-jae. There are 24 episodes.The web cartoon’s first episode will be released on Oct. 1, and each new episode will be uploaded about 12 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays.Achiara is a Korean word meaning a "small pond."Moon, 29, will play Kim So-yoon, an English teacher newly appointed to the village. Yook, 21, will play a policeman, Park Woo-jae.When So-yoon arrives in Achiara, a small and peaceful crime-free village, she finds a buried body on her first day at school.
