Actor Ahn Bo-hyun portrays a wealthy heir with a have-it-all lifestyle in the upcoming SBS series titled "Flex X Cop."

The new comedy-action series, set to premiere on Jan. 26, revolves around a third-generation chaebol owner family member, Jin I-soo (Ahn), whose life is all about having fun. When he gets entangled in a criminal case, he joins a violent crime investigation team as a detective.

Working with the team’s leader, a workaholic and dedicated detective named Lee Gang-hyun (Park Ji-hyun), Jin uses all his resources and connections to aid in capturing the criminals.

The series is led by director Kim Jae-hong, who co-directed the 2023 mystery series “Revenant,” and is scripted by Kim Ba-da, who wrote the 2021 Netflix series “My Name.”

Ahn is reuniting with the scriptwriter since the action series “My Name” with this series.

“It was my second time working with writer Kim Ba-da, who I’ve (previously) worked with. Firstly, the script was very interesting and the character was charming, so I felt eager to express it well,” he said through the broadcaster.

“Also, I was inspired by director Kim Jae-hong’s energy and wanted to create good synergy … It was an opportunity to work with talented creators so there was no reason not to take part."

Jin, who has previously spent his wealth to pursue a life of fun and thrills, discovers a new sense of purpose as a detective. In portraying this character, the actor focused on highlighting Jin's bright spirit.

“Jin is a character who can be annoying at times but has an irresistible charm. There are a lot of cathartic elements that make possible the things that are impossible in real life, so you will be able to experience a delightful sense of humor (with the series),” he said.

“I didn’t think I shared much similarity with Jin because he’s always so high-spirited. But I wanted to portray the unique lively personality that Jin has and put in effort to emphasize that side of him. So now, I found myself resembling him more. I've made different attempts to show a unique portrayal of a detective, so I hope you look forward to the character.”

This is the second series in which the two lead actors, Ahn and Park, have worked together, following the romantic comedy “Yumi's Cells,” where the two played friends.

“With Park, because we worked together in ‘Yumi’s Cells,’ I felt comfortable (with her) since the table read. She has such a bright personality and is always diligent, so I got a lot of positive energy from her as well. I believe we can show a different unique chemistry than we did in 'Yumi's Cells,’” Ahn said.

“Flex X Cop” will air on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m.
