Actress Han Ye-ri, who garnered international fame by playing the lead role in the award-winning film “Minari,” is set to join OCN's upcoming mystery thriller series “Hometown” as her next project.

The network announced Thursday that “actors Han Ye-ri, Yoo Jae-myung, and Uhm Tae-goo have confirmed roles in the series.”

The series will be led by director Park Hyun-suk, whose previous work includes the second season of the hit 2020 tvN series, “Stranger” and the 2016 SBS series “Uncontrollably Fond.”

Han will play Cho Jung-hyun who is the sister of convicted terrorist Cho Kyung-ho (Uhm).

After her brother is imprisoned for committing a horrific gas attack in 1999, she has taken care of his daughter, centering her world on the niece. One day, the niece goes missing, leading her to uncover the deep secrets to Kyung-ho's crime.

“As Han has garnered global attention, including the Academy, with her incredibly detailed and nuanced acting, we have high hopes for her performance in this series,” the network said. “The thriller series will have an intense storyline.”

Yoo took the role of detective Choi Hyung-in who is living in misery after losing his wife to the terrorist attack.

A mysterious murder occurs in the same town the terrorist attack happened. He realizes that there is a connection between the case and the gas attack, and teams up with Jung-hyun to find the truth behind both cases.

“Hometown” will premiere in the latter half of this year.
