'Return of Superman' fathers win grand prize at KBS Entertainment Awards

Fathers featured in the babysitting reality show “The Return of Superman” have won the grand prize at the 2019 KBS Entertainment Awards.

Football player Park Joo-ho, Australian-born TV personality Sam Hammington, KBS newscaster Do Kyung-wan, former member of now defunct boy band H.O.T. and singer Hong Kyung-min received the award at KBS New Wing Open Hall in Seoul on Saturday night.

“I thank the fans for showing much love for my children. I will share that love in places where it is needed,” said Park, husband of Swiss-born Anna and father of Na-eun, 4, and Gun-hoo, 2. Park and the children have been on the show since 2018.

He also surprised fans with the news that he and his wife are expecting another baby next year.

Hammington, father of William, 3, and Bentley, 2, thanked all the staff for their hard work.

“I am really grateful to all the crew members and all the fans around the world,” said Hammington, who has been on the show since 2016.

“The Return of Superman,” in which celebrity fathers take care of their children without mothers' help, premiered in 2013. It has been popular, with viewership ratings hovering around 11-14 percent.
