Korea and China kicked off a joint copyright forum in China, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Wednesday.
The 13th Korea-China Copyright Forum, which was held in Dalian, China, aims to share opinions between government officials, scholars and businesses, according to a 2006 bilateral memorandum of understanding on exchange and cooperation in the field of copyright protection.
Key stakeholders from various fields such as broadcasting, music and publishing and government officials from both sides, including Park Tae-young, director general of The Copyright Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea, and his counterpart Yu Cike, director of the copyright management department under the National Copyright Administration of China, will take part in the forum.
Consultation meetings on copyright protection will follow, where government officials will discuss joint measures to cut down copyright infringement as well as to boost cooperation on protection in the private sector.
Experts from the private sectors of both nations will hold a session to exchange their opinions, Thursday.
“At a time when bilateral relations are strained, it is more meaningful that the public and private sector experts of both countries put their heads together to expand cooperation on copyright protection,” said an official of the culture ministry.
