Stars take swipe at cyberbullies

Listen

Shin Se-kyung

Actress Shin Se-kyung and singer Lyn are fighting back against cyberbullies, swearing they will not tolerate them under any circumstances.

Shin’s agency, Namoo Actors, said Tuesday, it had reported cyberbullies to Gangnam police for defaming the star and spreading false information about her, Seoul Shinmun said.

“We were deeply enraged to find that the bullies hid behind anonymity and continued posting comments that slandered and embarrassed Shin on groundless reasons,” the agency said.

Namoo said it had sued bullies responsible for the most vicious online comments about Shin.

Lyn, left, and ISU

Lyn said on her blog, Monday, she and her husband have been suing cyberbullies since last fall and the process is “quietly on its way.”

Lyn, who married vocalist ISU from rock band M.C. the Max two years ago, said she partially admits what the bullies have said, including ISU’s alleged involvement with a teenager in 2009.

“But I felt I needed legal protection from the bullies who slandered not only my parents but also my future child,” she said.

“I think people would sympathize with my feelings once they see me as a woman before a singer.”

Malicious comments followed the couple more fiercely when the band released studio album “Pathos” late last month and people began writing reviews on online music site Melon.
