Rapper Gary has proved his “godlike” status in China, drawing almost 1.2 million people -- online and offline -- to his shows.

Hosted by China’s major online community website yy.com, the rapper’s performance in Shanghai on Saturday was broadcast live on the website, which attracted a huge audience.

Media reports quoted a show business insider as saying the show confirmed the rapper’s popularity in China. The rapper delivered everything the audience had hoped for, he said.

Gary, 37, a member of hip-hop duo Leessang, sang 10 hit songs and invited fans on the stage for various events.
