The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir (EPCC), winner of various prestigious awards including the Gramophone Classical Music Awards in 2018 and the Grammy Awards in 2007 and 2014, will be performing for a Korean audience on Tuesday evening at the Concert Hall of Seoul Arts Center in southern Seoul.

This will be their second performance in Seoul, after their previous visit back in 2009.

The choir's program for this performance will be focusing on choral pieces by Arvo Part, one of the most renowned living Estonian composers, including his arrangement of “Te Deum,” which will be the Korea premier of the piece.

Kaspars Putnins, the artistic director at the EPCC since 2014, is accompanying the choir to Seoul.

Performing about 50-60 concerts a year worldwide, the EPCC's musical repertoire has a wide range from Gregorian chants and polyphony pieces of the Renaissance period, to contemporary classics.

Another internationally established choir will tour Korea next month next month; known as “Ambassadors for France,” the Little Singers of Paris will perform in eight major Korean cities, including Seoul, Gwangju, Daegu, Daejeon and Jeju.

The 112-year-old boys' choir from France will start their tour in the city of Gwangju Dec. 12 and end their 10-day Korea tour in Seoul with a final concert at the Seoul Arts Center in southern Seoul, Dec. 21.

Since their first visit to Korea back in 1971, the French choir has performed here regularly, presenting “pure sounds of celestial harmony.”

What is particular about this tour program is that the choir will perform some of the most ancient polyphony choral pieces, such as “Laudemus-Stella Splendens” dating back to the 13th century.

Along with the centuries-old sacred choir music, the choir's signature pieces such as “Concerto pour Une Voix,” and “Le Duo des Chats” will also be performed. Various Christmas carols and French pop music will also entertain the audiences.
