TripleS introduces 12-member unit VV with debut album 'Performante'

Boasting a whopping 24-member lineup, mega girl group tripleS launched a new 12-member unit, Vision@ry Vision (VV), alongside its debut album "Performante," Wednesday.

TripleS, a K-pop girl group known for its fan-driven system, allows fans to vote on the formation of new unit groups from its 24-member roster. The group first introduced this system in May with the release of the album titled, "Assemble24," marking the debut of all 24 members performing together since their initial debut as a 10-member group in 2023.

VV, the latest unit formed under this system, was created through 870,000 fan votes and features 12 members known for their powerful performance skills.

To celebrate the debut and the release of the unit group's new album "Performante," the VV members hosted a media showcase at the YES24 Live Hall in Seoul's Gwangjin District, Wednesday, where they shared behind-the-scenes insights into the album's creation.

The album's title, "Performante," comes from the Italian word for "high performance" and according to member Kim Yoo-yeon, this name is a "direct reflection of the ambitions harbored by the group members."

"This album, inspired by the Italian word for 'high performance,' showcases our members' skills across various dance genres," Kim Yoo-yeon explained. "With 'boyish,' 'high-tech,' and 'level up' as the three keywords of the album, we hope people will look forward to our cool, cutting-edge performances."

The title track of the new album, "Hit The Floor," blends boom bap and high-tech elements, while carrying a message of breaking down stereotypes about girls.

During the showcase, the VV members appeared confident that their boyish concept and choreography rival those of male idols.

"The music video and choreography are different from what female idols typically present," member Park So-hyun said. "The title track breaks the mold of common female idol concepts, sending a message that we can become anything. That's why we believe this song rivals, or even surpasses, the concepts of male idols."

In addition to "Hit The Floor," the "Performante" album includes a total of 10 tracks spanning various genres, including "Visual Virtue," "Choom," "Eclair," "Love Soseol," "Atmosphere," "12 Rings," "Vision," "Bionic Power" and "Visionary Vision."

Having previously achieved a career-high status with their full-group lead single, "Girls Never Die," the VV members expressed hopes that the new unit's debut will further contribute to raising tripleS' profile.

"We were fortunate to get first place on a local music show during our last promotion," member Kim Na-kyoung said. "This time, we're aiming for another win and even though VV is a unit with 12 out of the 24 members, we hope this promotion will help bring more attention to tripleS as a whole."
