Despite being only a year into its K-pop journey, boy band LUN8 is back to showcase its impressive strides in the music scene with the latest album, "AWAKENING."
Consisting of members Jinsu, Chael, Takuma, Junwoo, Dohyun, Ian, Ji Eun-ho and Eunseop, the eight-piece band has been relentlessly building its discography since its debut in June 2023. Following the release of its second mini-album "BUFF" in March, the group also debuted in Japan with the single "Evergreen" in June.
Building on the restless momentum, the octet is now back to the K-pop scene with a fresh summer album "AWAKENING," including lead single "WHIP."
During Wednesday's press event at the Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin District, Seoul, the LUN8 members described the album as a "refreshing escape perfect for summer."

"The album conveys the message, 'Let's enjoy this moment freely without worries,' reflecting our mindset for this promotion," Dohyun said.
Eunseop chimed in to talk about the album's unique concept. "In previous albums, we showed a young and refreshing image, but this time we aimed to present more of a hipster's vibe."
The funky lead single, "WHIP," features an addictive Jersey club rhythm, highlighting the members' free-spirited energy. The new album also includes five more songs perfect for summer — "Ride," "DELULU," "Love Trailer" and "Life is A Movie."

During the event, the members also shared their emotions about celebrating their first anniversary as K-pop idols.
"It still doesn't feel real that we've reached our first anniversary. We want to show a more mature image of a group that has reached this milestone. It feels nostalgic to be back here a year after our debut showcase. We've worked even harder over the past year," Ji remarked.
Jinsu also reflected on his past activities, saying, "When we debuted, we focused on perfecting what was given to us. This time, we aimed to go beyond that. It was great to meet so many fans, including during our comeback in Japan. We had more happy moments than difficult ones."
With ambitions to advance to the global stage like their K-pop predecessors, the LUN8 members each harbored specific goals for the new release.
"We want to make the name LUN8 known. We want to show that we can excel in any genre with our new image," Eunseop said.
Dohyun also shared his aspirations, saying, "Our goal is to hear that LUN8 can successfully pull off this concept as well. By the end of the year, we hope to perform on award show stages and deliver great performances."
