SM Entertainment's new girl group aespa will drop its debut single “Black Mamba,” Nov. 17, the record label said Thursday.
“'Black Mamba' is a powerful dance piece with a touch of synth and bass sounds,” SM said. “It also has a catchy hook that sounds like a spell.”
aespa consists of four members ― Karina, Giselle, Winter and Ningning. SM previously revealed that the group's name is a combination of “Avatar X Experience” and “aspect,” saying: “Its universe centers on the members' alter egos ― avatars ― through which they experience a new world."
“Black Mamba” is based on this universe.
“In the song, the members get into an adventure after realizing that Black Mamba ― a great evil force ― poses a threat to the world and tries to estrange them from their avatars,” the company said.
aespa is SM's first group since NCT, which debuted in 2016. It also is the agency's first girl group since 2014, the year it launched Red Velvet.
