Ken, a member of K-pop boy band VIXX, is set to join the military band on July 6 and serve his compulsory military duty, the six-piece act's agency Jellyfish Entertainment said Sunday.
“Time and location of the singer's enlistment will not be disclosed to the public for safety reasons,” the company said.
Ken, 28, posted a hand-written letter to his followers on VIXX's official fan community, Saturday.
“I recently passed the test to join the military band and will begin my duty on July 6,” the letter reads. “I will enthusiastically perform my obligation. Please stay happy and healthy (until I get back.)”
Ken, whose real name is Lee Jae-hwan, debuted as a VIXX member in 2012 with the single “Super Hero.” The group, comprising N, Leo, Ravi, Hongbin, Hyuk and Ken, released several popular songs including “On and On” (2013) and “Shangri-La” (2017).
Ken began forging his acting career in 2014 in MBC Every 1's comedy drama “Boarding House No. 24.”
