Wildfires: BLACKPINK's Rose asks for help for home country Australia

Rose, a lead vocalist in K-pop girl band BLACKPINK, has asked fans to help victims of the Australian bushfires.

“I am heartbroken for the people and homes suffering from the fires and the millions of innocent and beautiful wildlife creatures that are injured and dying right now,” the New Zealand-born K-pop star said on Instagram, Thursday. “Australia is a place that I grew up in. I will try my best to support it.”

Posting a photo of a firefighter rescuing a koala, the singer, 22, also listed several organizations, including the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), that her followers could donate to.

“We can make a difference if we all join in,” Rose said. “Please help to save my home country.”

, the blazes have burned about 73,000 square kilometers (18 million acres), mostly forest and bushland. Millions of animals have been killed.

Legions of stars, including Nicole Kidman and Leonardo DiCaprio, have donated money to the relief effort.

Rose debuted in 2016 as a member of the four-piece BLACKPINK and shot to fame with big hits including “Whistle” (2016). The group is set to return with a fresh release early this year.
