Singer Park Yu-chun, who is on probation after being convicted of drug use and caught lying about it, said Tuesday that he would hold a paid fan event in Thailand next year. Park's fan meeting also goes against his vow to retire as entertainer. Some fans call him “shameless.”

The former member of boy band JYJ was given a 10-month jail sentence, suspended for two years in July, after being accused of buying 1.5 grams of methamphetamine and using it with his ex-girlfriend Hwang Ha-na between February and March in 2019. Hwang is a granddaughter of the founder of Namyang Dairy Products.
Nevertheless, Park will stage “LOVE ASIA with PARK YUCHUN in BANGKOK” at Chaeng Wattana Hall on Jan. 25, according to Thai entertainment company The Lime Thailand, Monday. The event will include a “hi-touch” session that allows the fans to high five with the star. Ticket price ranges from 2,000 THB ($66) to 5,000 THB ($166).
“A portion of proceeds will be donated to Asia Public Art Campaign,” the company said.
Before the conviction, Park even held a tearful press conference, saying, “If found guilty of using drugs, I would retire from the entertainment industry.”
“He is so shameless. His fans should stop following him,” an online user commented.
Park, 33, debuted as a part of quintet TVXQ in 2004. Following a legal dispute with the group's agency SM Entertainment, he left the group in 2010 with two other members Kim Jae-joong and Kim Jun-su and formed JYJ. But he left JYJ after testing positive for a drug.
