Police have found a “pessimistic” note hand-written by K-pop singer Goo Ha-ra, who was found dead at her home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on Sunday.
The note was on a living room table, but police have not revealed details, except for saying that her writing showed she was pessimistic. It is not clear whether she wrote it as suicide letter.
“It was very short, which seemingly showed Koo being pessimistic about her life,” said an official during a press conference at Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency headquarters in downtown Seoul on Monday.
Police have not decided whether to conduct an autopsy, having virtually ruled out foul play.
“The decision will came following a discussion with the bereaved family and the prosecutors, based on the family's opinions and the police on-site investigation results,” the official said.
According to the police, Goo was last seen on closed circuit television (CCTV) at 12:35 a.m. on Sunday. She was reportedly returning home. A housekeeper, who has worked for Goo for some time, found the body.
Police are still investigating.
Goo debuted as a member of now-disbanded K-pop girl band KARA in 2008. The group enjoyed global popularity, especially in Japan, with a string of hit songs including "Pretty Girl" (2008) until the group disbanded in 2016.
