TWICE begins 'dome' tour in Japan

K-pop girl band TWICE has begun its first “dome” tour, on which it will perform in dome-covered stadiums in three Japanese cities.

The first concert was at Kyocera Dome Osaka, where the nine-piece group opened with a Japanese version of its debut song “Like OOH-AHH” and “One More Time,” the first single released in Japan.

“It is our first dome tour,” leader Jihyo said during the concert on Wednesday.

Rapper Chaeyoung said, “I appreciate ONCE (the fandom name for TWICE) for enabling us to achieve our dream.”

It has been the group's long-time dream to perform at the domes, where 40,000-50,000 fans attend each concert. Therefore, the tour was also titled, “TWICE DOME TOUR 2019 '#Dreamday.'”

TWICE, the flagship team represented by JYP Entertainment, debuted in 2015 and rose to stardom thanks to big hits including "Cheer Up" and "Knock Knock." It is also the first K-pop girl band to have a dome tour in Japan as well.

The band will perform at Kyocera dome Osaka again on Thursday, on March 29-30 at Tokyo Dome and on April 6 at Nagoya Dome. About 210,000 people are expected to attend the performances.
