Taeyang, a member of K-pop group BIGBANG, began his 21-month mandatory military service Monday.
The star, 29, arrived at a training center in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, at around 1:45 p.m. for five weeks’ basic training.
After the training, he is expected to be assigned to an Army unit in the region, where he will serve out the rest of his duty.
His wife, actress Min Hyo-rin, did not see him off there.
Another BIGBANG member, Daesung, will join the military on Tuesday, when the group will release a special song titled “Flower road” as a message for fans.
