South Korea’s first transgender singer Harisu and her husband Micky Jung have divorced after 10 years of marriage. The couple reportedly made the decision by mutual consent.

The exact reason remains unknown. But the couple reportedly experienced acute financial difficulty after Harisu’s husband’s business failed.

But Harisu said on social media that financial difficulty was not the reason for the divorce, but did not elaborate.

“We have lived well, caring and loving each other,” Harisu wrote. “Although we have split, we still keep in touch on social media. We each hope the other has a bright future.”

Harisu and Jung married in May 2007. Their marriage drew huge attention because Harisu was South Korea’s first transgender singer. They had no children.

Harisu made her debut in 2001 as commercial model. Her debut album “Temptation” was released in September 2001.
