Dance music duo Clon to return after 12 years

Dance music duo Clon, who dominated Korean music charts in the late 90’s, will return after 12 years with an album.

The duo’s Kang Won-rae announced on Instagram on Tuesday that the album would be released in June. “Clon is preparing its sixth album. We just finished recording two singles of the playlist,” he said.

It will be the first album since Clon unofficially disbanded in 2005.

The other member Koo Jun-yup, also known as DJ Koo, is producing the album as well as singing. Kim Chang-hwan, who composed for the duo’s hit debut album “Are You Ready?” in 1996, has also contributed music and lyrics this time.

According to Kang, the genre will be electronic dance music. “The songs will just be like ‘Pick Me’,” he said, referring to a popular single from Mnet reality survival show “Produce 101” in 2016, which Kim composed and Koo produced.

Kang wrote in his post, “I do not know if this project will end up as a full album that celebrates Clon’s 20th anniversary.”

Clon had major hits in the late 1990s such as “Nan” (1996), “Kuntari Shabara” (1996) and “First Love” (2000). The duo faced a crisis when Kang became a paraplegic in a motorcycle accident in November 2000.
