Wonder Girls Leave for the US

Pop girl group, Wonder Girls, left for the United States Saturday to step up efforts to produce their first local album there, winding up their short stay in Seoul.

"Wonder Girls left to the U.S. yesterday afternoon," said a spokesman of JYP Entertainment, the management agent of the pop group, Sunday. "The group will concentrate on preparation for its first local album, a little delayed, upon arrival at the U.S."

Wonder Girls returned to Seoul March 11 from Singapore where they stayed for about one week to attend the ad promotion. They had returned to their home country early this month. They attended the promotion event of global cellphone brand, Sony Ericsson, in Singapore as they were chosen as models for the phonemaker's Asia-Pacific region.

All the five members, including new face Hyerim, got on board the U.S.-bound flight Saturday afternoon, after the short two-day rest in Korea.

"The group was earlier scheduled to release its first U.S. album in February or this month but is obliged to delay the album due to change of one member with new face," the spokesman said. "They plan to step up efforts to prepare making the album without other schedule for the release in April or at latest in May."

인기 걸그룹 원더걸스가 짧은 국내 일정을 마치고 미국으로 돌아가 현지 첫 정규앨범 준비에 박차를 가한다.

원더걸스 소속사인 JYP엔터테인먼트 관계자는 14일 아시아경제신문과 통화에서 "원더걸스 멤버들이 어제(13일) 오후 미국으로 떠났다"며 "미국에 도착한 후 당초 예정보다 늦어진 정규앨범 준비에 주력할 계획"이라고 말했다.

원더걸스는 이달 초 귀국했다가 광고 프로모션 참석을 위해 일주일 정도 싱가포르를 방문한 뒤 지난 11일 다시 귀국했다. 원더걸스는 글로벌 휴대전화 브랜드 소니에릭슨의 아시아 태평양 모델로 발탁돼 싱가포르에서 열린 프로모션 행사에 참석했다.

국내에서 이틀 간의 짧은 휴식을 취한 원더걸스는 13일 오후 새 멤버 혜림을 포함한 다섯 명 모두 다시 미국행 비행기에 올랐다.

JYP엔터테인먼트 관계자는 "당초 2~3월 쯤 발매 예정이었던 미국에서의 첫 정규앨범이 멤버 교체로 늦어졌다"며 "오는 4월, 늦어도 5월 발매를 위해 당분간은 다른 일정 없이 앨범 준비에 주력할 계획"이라고 밝혔다.
