Top Korean male ballad singers Lee Seung-chul, Sung Si-kyung, Kim Dong-ryul and Yurisangja are celebrating spring by holding concerts.
Lee Seung-chul is one of Korea's favorite singers for his ballads and strong vocals. The title of his concert is ``The Time Machine'' and the 42-year-old plans to bring back songs and memories from the past and recreate some with electric techno sounds. Lee has participated in various drama soundtracks like those from the hit drama ``Firebird (2004),'' starring Eric from pop group Shinwha and the late Lee Eun-ju. The concert will be held May 23-24 at the War Memorial of Korea. For more visit www.interpark.com or call 1588-4430.
Kim Dong-ryul is renowned for his soft and persuasive voice. Gentle as it may be, his songs have a power that draws the listener in. Kim released his new album, ``Monologue,'' last January, with plans of holding three concerts, ``Prologue I (Aramnuri Theater, April 30),'' ``Prologue II (Seongnam Arts Center, May 25),'' and ``Epilogue (Gymnastic Stadium, Olympic Park, June 14).'' Kim will perform delicate acoustic songs at his first two concerts, but his final concert will be on a much bigger scale. He has arranged a more dramatic atmosphere, with more than 100 artists performing, including an orchestra, a band and fellow singers. For more visit www.interpark.com.
Another ballad singer, Sung Si-kyung, has prepared a concert for spring and also to say good-bye to his fans before he begins military service. With his soft ballads, Sung will show an exclusive video clip of himself. New songs from his upcoming album will also be performed, so it will be a great chance to preview the singer's next melodies. The concert is set for this Friday and Saturday at the Ewha Womans University's Grand Hall. For more visit www.interpark.com or call 1544-0737.
Yurisangja, or ``glass box'' in Korean, is preparing for its ``Spring Picnic Concert'' in Daehangno, where the duet held its first concert. Being a rather small theater with 180 seats, the singers will have the chance to come closer to their fans and carry out fun events. Yurisangja is famous for nuptial songs with their soft melodies and touching lyrics, but this time, they have prepared their songs with a more pleasant and ``spring-like'' twist. The concert will start May 5-June 1 at Erang theater, Daehangno. For more visit www.interpark.com or call (02) 3446-3226.
