'The Roundup : No Way Out' takes home trophy at Spain's Sitges Film Festival

The action comedy film, “The Roundup: No Way Out,” won the Focus Asia People's Choice Award at this year’s Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, held from Oct. 5 to 15, in Catalonia, Spain.

The film’s distributor, ABO Entertainment, announced on Tuesday that the franchise movie won the award for the second time in a row. The second installment of the “The Roundup” series notched the same accolade at the festival last year.

The festival, founded in 1968, is one of the well-regarded international genre film festivals, specializing in fantasy and horror flicks. Focus Asia People's Choice Award, voted by the audiences, recognizes the best Asian film among the movies screened during the festival that year.

“I thank all the audiences in Spain who enjoyed 'The Roundup: No Way Out' and the organizers of the Sitges Film Festivals for inviting us again this year,” the film’s director Lee Sang-yong said as he received the award.

“I hope to make the next series just as entertaining so we can screen it once again at the festival," he added.

The third installation of the “The Roundup” franchise, which came out this May, follows tough cop Ma Seok-do (Ma Dong-seok, also known as Don Lee) and his team taking down an illegal drug ring and uncovering corruption within law enforcement.
