Actress Kim Hee-sun, who enjoyed her cinematic heyday in the early 2000s, will return to the big screen in Korea after 15 years.
She will star in the low-budget independent film “Paper Flower” whose shooting will begin soon, according to
. Veteran actor Ahn Sung-ki will play her partner. Little is yet known about the movie.
Koh Hoon will direct the film. He directed “Eomung” that was released early this year.
The news has grabbed attention because it is rare for a top actress to take a role in a low-budget, independent film.
Kim debuted as a TV commercial model in 1993 and was propelled to stardom after appearing in dozens of works including the drama “Men of the Bath House” in 1995 and “Sunflower” in 1998.
She has featured in some Chinese movies in the past few years but has not been in a Korean movie since 2003.
