Hollywood actress Megan Fox will appear in a Korean wartime movie, tentatively titled “Jangsa-ri 9.15,” according to film production company Taewon Entertainment Friday.
It will be the first time for the actress, who garnered worldwide popularity in the hit series “Transformers,” to be featured in a Korean movie.
“Jangsa-ri 9.15” deals with the Jangsa landing operation in 1950 during the Korean War, a demonstration of well-known battle at Incheon, which was under the command of General Douglas MacArthur.
Fox will play Marguerite Higgins, a female war correspondent for the New York Herald Tribune who covered the Korean War and called on the international community for assistance.
Thanks to her book “War in Korea: The Report of a Woman Combat Correspondent,” Higgins became the first female to win a Pulitzer Prize for Foreign Correspondence in 1951.
“Fox is full of passion,” said Taweon CEO Jung Tae-won. “She is even searching for the recorded voice of Higgins before her death.”
“She is already having discussions about hairstyle and other visual aspects as well.”
Seasoned Korean actor Kim Myung-min will star in the movie. Kim rose to fame through a myriad of hits including the TV series “Beethoven Virus” in 2008.
Filming on the movie will begin in mid-October, with screening slated for the next year.
