Academy Award nominees to screen at CGV ARTHOUSE theaters

"Baby Driver" received nominations for Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Film Editing for the 90th Academy Awards to be held in March.

South Korea’s largest movie theater chain CGV has reserved tickets for moviegoers to watch acclaimed films nominated for the 90th Academy Awards in March.

Nineteen nominees for the awards, held Mar. 4 at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater, will be screened at CGV ARTHOUSEs nationwide, the company’s theaters dedicated to independent and art films. The screenings run from Feb. 8 to Mar. 21.

Eleven films on the list have not yet hit Korean theaters. They include “The Shape of Water,” “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” “Lady Bird,” “Call Me by Your Name,” “Phantom Thread,” “The Florida Project,” “The Post” and “I, Tonya.”

The list also has films that became domestic hits, including “Dunkirk,” “Loving Vincent,” “Blade Runner 2049,” “Baby Driver” and “Get Out.”

CGV ARTHOUSE has theaters at Apgujeong-dong and Myeongdong Station in Seoul, Seomyeon in Busan, and screens in 15 theaters nationwide.

The Oscars are usually held in February, but were moved to March this year to avoid conflict with the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games.

American comedian Jimmy Kimmel will host the award ceremony for the second year in a row.
