New Korean comedy movie “You Call It Passion,” which revolves around a newspaper company, aims to provoke office-worker theatergoers to nod along in agreement and laugh.
The movie had its premiere Thursday and reviews said it well portrayed Korea’s office environment, which is governed under a hierarchy that can be painful for those in the lower ranks because of mental and physical pressure from superiors.
The movie stars veteran actor Jung Jae-young, who plays an entertainment desk chief thirsty for exclusives, and rising star actress Park Bo-young, a fresh-out-of-university rookie under Jung’s command, who learns what it takes to become a reporter.
The movie highlights the superior-junior relationship, which first appears to be like that of a dog and a cat with nothing to lose, but turns out to be more like that of family members who watch each other’s back.
Jung and Park are a credible acting duo, as proven by their past work. The movie also boasts a colorful supporting cast.
The movie will be released on Nov. 25.
