Singer Suzy of girl band missA is back as actress Bae Suzy with a historical drama film about “pansori” -- a Korean genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer.
“The Sound of a Flower” is slated to open on Nov. 25.
Bae plays a girl from 1867, during the Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910), who is determined to learn pansori when society banned women from it.
It has been three years since Bae stirred the nation with her acclaimed performance in “Architecture 101,” in which she played the younger female lead. Bae won three awards for the movie, including the Baeksang Arts Award, Mnet 20’s Choice Award and the Blue Dragon Film Award.

In 2013, she was in the MBC television drama “Gu Family Book,” playing a combat instructor who falls in love with a half-human, half-deity.
Bae debuted with the band in 2010 and also has appeared in many advertisements since.
