Deep Trap

“Deep Trap” released on September 10 questions the truth about social network services (SNS). Jun-shik (Jo Han-seon) and So-yeon (Kim Min-kyeong) go on a vacation to a remote area. They sense a strange atmosphere around a restaurant, which gained popularity on SNS, but decide to stay there as Seong-cheol (Ma Dong-seok), the owner was kind to them. However soon Seong-cheol starts acting strange, as if he knows So-yeon well. The story is about struggle between those who set a trap and those who try to avoid it. Directed by Kwon Hyeong-jin.

Self/less

“Self/less” throws a question that may be possible in the future, “What if your mind can be transplanted to other body?” Demian (Ben Kingsley), who is a superrich with serious cancer succeeds in transplanting his mind to a young body, called “body shedding.” After “body shedding” he starts enjoying a new youthful life. However, he starts to suffer from serious delusions, not able to tell whether it is an existing fact or memory. Directed by Tarsem Singh.

An

“An” is a Japanese word for red bean paste. The movie “An” is the story of red bean paste master Dokue (Kirin Kiki), who just started working at a store that specializes in making “dorayaki,” a traditional Japanese bread with red bean paste. Sentaro (Masatoshi Nagase), the blunt shop owner, and Wakana (Kyara Uchida), the lone regular customer, start to change after they meet Dokue. They have scars, but they receive encouragement from Dokue to start their lives over. The movie’s message is that people need faith and hope and should keep trying despite the rejection they get from the harsh society. The movie has attracted 400,000 viewers in Japan. Kirin Kiki is a respected Japanese actress who has been in the industry for over 50 years of career, and who is best known for her role in the movie “Tokyo Tower – Mom & Me, Sometimes Dad” by Joji Matsuoka. “An” is directed by Naomi Kawase.

The Throne

"The Throne" depicts the family tragedy of a father who had to kill his son, the story about King Yeongjo and Prince Sado from the Joseon Kingdom. It gained public attention even when the script was initially circulated. Song Gang-ho portrays King Yeongjo, and Yoo A-in, who shot to stardom after the recently released movie "Veteran," plays Prince Sado. "The Throne" focuses on faithfully depicting the historical truth, rather than adding fictional set-ups. Throughout its 125 minute running time, it portrays the deep sorrow of King Yeongjo and Prince Sado. Directed by Lee Joon-ik.

Straight Outta Compton

Based on a true story, “Straight Outta Compton” depicts the birth and death of American hip hop group Niggaz Wit Attitude (N.W.A) from Compton, Calif. In the late 1980s, Dr. Dre (Corey Hawkins), Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), Easy-E (Jason Mitchell), MC Ren (Aldis Hodge) and DJ Yella (Neil Brown Jr.) formed a group that popularized the gangster rap and West Coast hip hop genres. It shows how of the group fought back against racial discrimination, releasing a song exactly sniping at police, which stirred the society. In addition to N.W.A., the movie also depicts the relationships between Snoop Dogg, Tupac and Dr. Dre, plays the song “California Love” and “C.R.E.A.M”, which will drag hip hop fan’s attention . “Straight Outta Compton” is directed by F.
