Actor Kang Ha-neul, 29,
of his military base in Gyeryong, South Chungcheong Province, Thursday to greet his fans with a big smile after finishing his mandatory 20-month service.
Kang saluted one last time to fans, who arrived early in the morning to celebrate the day with him.
“This is my first time to be discharged from military service, so I don't know what to say,” Kang said with a smile. “It was such a valuable time. I read many books and learned many things. It was very meaningful.
“First things first, I need to call my parents and … have a can of cold beer later.”
During his service, Kang continued his acting career. In the musical “Shinheung Military Academy,” staged by the Army, he played the main role and worked with other actors who were serving, including Ji Chang-wook.
Kang will return to the new TV show “Camellia Blooms,” a romantic comedy-drama, set to air in September.
