Ryu Hyun-kyung, left, and Park Sung-hoon
Actors Ryu Hyun-kyung and Park Sung-hoon are in a romantic relationship.
Ryu’s agency Prain TPC released a statement saying Ryu had confirmed that she and Park were a couple.
“The pair knew each other before,” Prain explained.
“But after co-starring in the play ‘Almost, Maine,’ their relationship became something more than a friendship.”
The romance was first rumored on Tuesday morning, prompting Prain and Park’s agency BH Entertainment to find out whether it was true.
It took only about an hour when Prain found it was true.
Ryu, 34, a veteran actress who debuted in 1996, was a guest on a MBC FM4U radio show on Mar. 3 to promote her latest movie “The Artist: Reborn.”
The show’s host, comedian Ji Seok-jin, questioned the actress about her private life, hinting at a romance.
The actress said she was single and not interested in men of fancy backgrounds, including money, height, appearance or salary.
But she admitted her libido would be interested if a man of “good heart” appeared.
Earlier this month, the actress was misunderstood to be going out with actor Park Jung-min when they appeared as guests on a garrulous ride on TV talk show “Taxi” on tvN.
When host Lee Young-ja asked the actress if she felt any flirtatious chemistry toward Park, she said not.
She said the actor was “like my brother” and “we cannot possibly become more than good friends.”
