BOK chief to attend BIS governors' meeting in Basel

Bank of Korea (BOK) Gov. Rhee Chang-yong will depart for the Swiss city of Basel this week to attend meetings with central bank governors of the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) member nations, his office said Wednesday.

During his seven-day visit starting Thursday, Rhee is scheduled to join his counterparts from BIS member nations to discuss recent developments in the global economy and financial markets through the Global Economy Meeting, Meeting of Governors and the Asian Consultative Council, according to the BOK.

As a chair of the BIS' Committee on the Global Financial System, Rhee will preside over a discussion session on pending global financial issues, it added.
