POSCO E&C collaborating with top Italian designer

POSCO Engineering & Construction has developed an exterior design of an apartment, in collaboration with Italian designer Alessandro Mendini, the builder said Monday.

The company said this is the second collaboration with the world-renowned designer and includes the unique identity of POSCO E&C’s The Sharp apartment brand.

Mendini spent his career at brands including Cartier, Philips and Swarovski. He earned his reputation in various fields such as furniture and interior design.

POSCO E&C said the concept for the fresh project is “colorful imagination,” in which artworks under three main themes ― Curtain Wall Look, Mendini Look and 3D Look ― will be displayed on the exterior of The Sharp apartments.

The company said this collaboration will become a turning point in architecture to get out of a rut and apply Mendini’s abundant impression of colors and creative pattern design, making each construction a work of art.

“POSCO E&C added distinctiveness to its apartments with Alessandro Mendini’s exterior design to promote its elegant design and brand awareness,” a company official said. “It was aimed at establishing The Sharp’s own unique identity through this design development.”

The Sharp celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. It is named after the musical symbol # (sharp), describing POSCO E&C’s ambition to lead the industry and elevate its residents’ quality of life.

“The company believes apartments are more than just living spaces but pieces of art that enrich quality of life,” the official said. “It seeks to lead housing culture, introducing new high-class design trends to the construction industry.”
