Ha to lead Citibank Korea for 5th term

Citibank Korea CEO Ha Yung-ku will lead the bank for a fifth term, setting a record of holding the top banking post for 15 years from 2001 to 2015.

The bank said Monday that its CEO candidate recommendation committee selected Ha as the single candidate for Citigroup Korea chairman and Citibank Korea CEO.

Ha will be reappointed once the recommendation passes a shareholders’ meeting slated for March 29. The term will be for three years.

It is very rare for a bank chief to be reappointed for over 10 years. He started his career at KorAm Bank in 1981 and held the chief position of the bank from 2001 to 2004 when Citibank took over it. He has led Citibank Korea since then, and Citigroup Korea since 2010 when the financial group was set up.
