Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) will join CES 2026 as the world's first utility company to set up its own booth at the tech fair’s main venue. Through the event, the state-run utility company seeks to redefine itself as a technology-driven energy solutions provider.
During the exhibition, slated for Jan. 6 to 9, KEPCO will operate its Energy & Solution Pavilion at Las Vegas Convention Center, featuring immersive content designed to visualize the entire power value chain, from generation and transmission to distribution and consumption.
A centerpiece of the exhibition will be an electric turtle ship, a modern reinterpretation of Korea’s historic warship. Visitors will experience a 6.5-minute immersive video journey inside the structure through KEPCO’s core technologies, offering a vivid sense of how advanced energy systems are applied in everyday life.
There will also be an interactive power value chain kiosk to help visitors trace the process from generation to consumption while highlighting electricity’s central role in both industrial and urban life.
The featured technologies for the booth include an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven digital power plant platform, perovskite solar glass that generates energy through windows, an advanced distribution management system and direct-current (DC) distribution technology for more efficient power delivery.
KEPCO said it decided to participate in the tech show in order to demonstrate how traditional utilities can evolve into technology-driven business amid rapid transformations in the global energy sector.
“This is a turning point in KEPCO’s transformation from a public corporation into a global energy platform company,” the company’s CEO Kim Dong-cheol said. “We will further accelerate the commercialization of technology and overseas expansion to help ease the financial burden on the public.”
Ahead of the exhibition, the company has already drawn attention by becoming the first utility company to win five categories at the CES Innovation Awards. The award-winning technologies include an AI-based optical diagnostics system for power facilities, hybrid energy storage systems, an ultra-high voltage transformer bushing monitoring system and security technologies for distributed energy systems.
The company plans to use CES 2026 as a platform to pursue global partnerships, such as joint R&D and overseas business cooperation, aiming to expand exports for AI-based power grids, DC distribution technologies and energy safety solutions.
