A global artificial intelligence (AI) event kicked off Monday in Seoul, showcasing the latest trends and technologies in the AI sector, the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) said.

Co-hosted by KITA and DMK Global, a tech-focused content publishing company, the AI Summit Seoul & Expo 2025 will be held for two days at Seoul's COEX convention center, bringing together over 70 companies in the technology and AI sectors, including Google Cloud, IBM and KT, according to KITA.

Global leaders, including Wen Sang, the co-founder of the AI agent Genspark, and Luc Julia, the chief scientific officer of Renault Group, will provide insights into the current state and future of the AI industry, it added in a press release.

Participating companies can also meet with some 50 buyers visiting the event in a "business connection session" that will run throughout the two-day event.

"The event's purpose is to support the application and the expansion of AI technology, whose importance has grown to become one of the country's strategic industries," KITA said.

"We will make efforts to position the event as a representative global business platform that will lead the growth of the AI industry," it added.
