LG Electronics is ramping up its efforts to lead artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, presenting its integrated One LG solution for AI data centers with LG CNS and LG Energy Solution at this year’s Data Centre World Asia (DCWA).
The three affiliates joined Asia’s largest data center exhibition, held in Singapore on Wednesday and Thursday, running a joint booth for the first time to showcase their unified portfolio of high-efficiency technologies.
The One LG integrated solution responds to soaring AI infrastructure needs through the group’s combined expertise, already delivering concrete results such as a major hyperscale project in Jakarta, Indonesia.
“With our differentiated thermal management systems, design, building and operating capabilities, and robust power solutions, the One LG integrated solution positions us to proactively lead in the rapidly growing AI data center market,” Lee Jae-sung, vice president of LG Electronics’ Eco Solution business division, said.
At the exhibition, LG Electronics introduced advanced, high-efficiency cooling systems for AI data centers, including direct-to-chip coolant distribution units (CDU), cold plates, computer room air handlers and direct-current-based systems, which help reduce energy loss by about 10 percent compared to conventional cooling systems.
The company unveiled a new CDU capable of doubling cooling capacity to 1.4 megawatts, meeting the rising thermal demands of advanced central processing units and graphics processing units that power modern generative AI workloads.
It also presented innovations such as a digital twin system that predicts server heat and uses AI to control heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for energy savings, along with a large-scale oil-free inverter turbo chiller.
LG CNS revealed a scale model of an AI data center currently under construction in Jakarta, demonstrating its capabilities to optimally design, create and operate flexible infrastructure.
The company is currently testing the advanced immersion cooling system and has launched a new concept, AI Box, which fits all essential systems into a container-sized unit. This container-type data center minimizes limits on space and construction while significantly shortening the construction time, providing a next-generation model for data centers.
LG Energy Solution presented its high-density uninterruptible power supply, JP5. The system provides maximized backup power even in compact environments, making it optimal for data centers with limited space.
As demands for data centers in Asia are accelerating with digital transformation, interest in sustainable and energy-efficient infrastructure is also rising. Earlier, LG Electronics signed an agreement to supply cooling solutions to the largest net-zero AI data center currently under construction in Saudi Arabia’s Neom planned city project.
