Krafton CEO Kim Chang-han met Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to discuss their future collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) and gaming technologies, the game studio said Friday.

According to a Krafton social media post, Kim met Huang Thursday (local time) at Nvidia’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California, where the two discussed ideas for collaboration.

The two leaders exchanged thoughts about the future direction of their technological cooperation, including topics such as driving innovations in game development through agentic AI and exploring the potential to expand into robotics, such as humanoids powered by embodied AI, Krafton said.

Agentic AI is a system that can make autonomous decisions, pursue goals and take actions without human involvement. Embodied AI refers to AI systems that interact with the real world through physical bodies.

“I’m thrilled that our collaboration with Nvidia on on-device AI has led to the launch of the first meaningful product in gaming AI,” Kim said, referring to the two companies’ existing partnership on a co-playable character (CPC) powered by Nvidia’s ACE AI solution.

Unveiled at CES 2025, a CPC is an advanced AI in-game character using an on-device small language model specific for gaming. Unlike traditional non-playable characters that follow pre-scripted behaviors, CPCs dynamically react to game situations and respond in real time. This enables more natural, immersive interactions with players.

Krafton plans to integrate CPCs into its game portfolio, including its flagship PUBG: Battlegrounds franchise and life simulator inZOI, hoping to establish a benchmark for the gaming industry.

The CPC for the PUBG franchise, called PUBG Ally, will serve as a reliable aid for players. It will engage in natural conversations, make strategic decisions, and dynamically adjust game strategies in various multiplayer scenarios.

In inZOI, which recently launched in early access, the CPC known as Smart Zoi interacts with other human characters in the game to create a comprehensive community simulation. Zois can act autonomously, spreading rumors, following fashion trends and building relationships based on their individual life experiences.
