LG CNS to digitize Government Complex Sejong

LG CNS will establish a fully digital system in Government Complex Sejong, installing emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data needed to improve operational efficiency, according to the company, Tuesday.

The company recently won the project to build an integrated management system for a smart government office, ordered by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. This is a development project to fully digitalize Government Complex Sejong, the largest government building in Korea, by next April.

To that end, LG CNS will build an AI-based integrated control system in the complex by utilizing digital twin technology, 5G specialized network, AI and big data technologies.

“LG CNS will provide the AI-based integrated control system through its 'Cityhub Building' digital transformation platform. The company developed the integrated control-specialized platform, which contains various solutions that can collect, manage and control data of large buildings or factories all at once,” a company spokesperson said.

Using this platform, Government Complex Sejong will be able to respond quickly to abnormal situations and make optimal decisions. For example, in case of fire, the platform will activate the fire alarm system, monitor the fire, check the status of emergency exits and provide a list of fire-fighting equipment.

When applying digital twin technology to the complex, facility managers can patrol the government building from the second basement floor to the 12th floor using an avatar that is authorized to check the status of every floor.

Through the 5G specialized network system, officials residing in the complex will be able to use a secure frequency inside the facility to prevent data being compromised.

AI and big data technologies will help the control system improve the physical security of the complex. AI technology analyzes all footage from 2,000 surveillance cameras within and outside the complex, using about 60 indicators such as gender and vehicle type.

Based on big data from the facilities and security control system analyzed by AI, the system will also be able to quickly recognize and report abnormal situations such as fires and unauthorized intrusion.

Taking its experiences working on the Sejong government building, the company aims to expand its presence in digital building systems in newly established cities.
