Netmarble is pinning high hopes on its upcoming game, “Seven Knights Revolution,” expecting that the role-playing game will become a new hit that attracts global gamers, the head of the local game company said, Thursday.

“Netmarble is trying to make this year the first year of expanding its own platform and IP (intellectual property),” Kwon Young-sik, CEO of the company, said during a media showcase introducing the new game at its headquarters in Seoul.

“'Seven Knights Revolution' is the game at the center of the plan and is a game that will make a leap for the Seven Knights IP,” he added.

The new role-playing game, which is playable on both mobile devices and PCs, is the fourth in the series of the Seven Knights franchise. The very first one, which was released in 2014 for mobile devices, is serviced in 137 countries and topped the top grossing game chart in 29 countries, including Korea and Japan.

It will hit the Korean market first on July 28 and will be released in the global market once the service operation here is stabilized.

Introducing the special features of the new game, Ahn Joon-seok, the head producer of Netmarble Nexus, a Netmarble subsidiary that develops “Seven Knights Revolution,” said the game shows off high-quality graphics, real-time combat based on a non-targeting system, various concepts of dungeons and a story line that inherits the original version.

Ahn also said, “Players can have their own 'nexus,' a private space where they can decorate on their own and interact with other users.”

Park Young-jae, the head of Business Group at Netmarble, said, “'Seven Knights Revolution' can be played on both mobile devices and PCs, so users can enjoy the game on whatever device they want to play with.”

“We will do our best to launch this game in the global market as soon as possible and make it the leading global IP of the country,” he added.

For Netmarble, the success of the new game is paramount as it swung to a net loss in the first quarter of 2022. The company recorded an operating loss of 11.9 billion won due to a lack of new game releases and decreased sales in overseas markets.
